Saifullahs to contest election for all Lakki seats

LAKKI MARWAT: The Saifullah brothers on Thursday announced that they would field candidates for the one National Assembly and three provincial assembly seats in Lakki Marwat district.

The announcement was made by former federal minister Anwar Saifullah Khan during a news conference at the house of district nazim Ishfaq Ahmad Khan Meenakhel here.

Mr Anwar, who is also the Pakistan People’s Party central executive council member, said the Saifullahs won’t leave the electoral arena open for rivals in 2018 and would field candidates for all national and provincial assembly seats from the district.

He said Safiullahs always worked for the district’s development.

“The hard work of senior parliamentarian Humayun Saifullah Khan led to the launch of work on Kurrum Tangi dam, while I provided jobs to 30,000 youths during his tenure as the federal petroleum and natural resources minister.

Also, the hectic efforts of former federal minister Salim Saifullah Khan had brought about the government’s approval of the dualisation of Indus Highway,” he said.

Mr Anwar said work on the additional carriageway between Kohat and Serai Gambila would begin within a month.

He urged the people to support the Saifullah brothers for their welfare.

Mr Anwar also announced that district nazim Ishfaq Ahmad Khan would contest the PK-76 (Lakki Marwat-III) elections in 2018 as a nominee of the Saifullahs as he had carried out massive development work in the entire district.

He insisted that the current MNAs and MPAs from the district didn’t work for the welfare of the local residents.

Mr Anwar said the PTI government and JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman were to blame for the denial of the benefit of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project to the southern districts of KP.

He said while the federal government was executing the CPEC project, the PTI government wasted its time in staging sit-ins.

He added that the JUI-F had compromised the development of KP’s southern districts for the development of just one road passing through his native village.
