Bounce Club to meet Arambagh in decider

KARACHI: Arambagh Club and Bounce Club won their respective semi-finals to set a title clash in the Independence Day basketball tournament at the former’s court on Friday evening.

Arambagh fought back into the game after interval to post an enthralling 59-55 victory over fighting Askari Alphas.

The winners trailed 23-30 at half time having lost the first quarter 9-16 and tied 14-all in the second. They won the third quarter 13-12 and turned the tide in their favour winning the fourth 23-13.

Daniyal and Zain-ul-Abedin were the main scorers for Arambagh with a tally of 18 and 14, respectively while Fazeel scored 11.

Shahmeer (24) top-scored for the losers but the effort went in vain. Bakhtiar and Raiz contributed nine and eight points, respectively.

Earlier, the trio of Mubashir (16), Asad (15) and Zia Ahmed (13) steered Bounce Club to an emphatic 55-44 triumph over Nishtar Club.

The two teams were tied at 26-all at half time.

Talha Amjad returned with a score of 15 and was followed by Shabbar and Asad Ali with nine and eight points, respectively.
