Dar Academy win tour opener

LAHORE: Dar Hockey Academy won the opening match of their Holland tour beating MOP Club 4-1.

According to the information received here on Thursday, Ajmal Butt scored a brace while Usman Nazim and Zulqarnain scored the remaining two goals for the touring academy side in Eindhoven.

It is the fifth tour of Dar Academy to Europe. MOP Club have hosted them on every tour.

Dar Academy took an early lead when Usman’s strong and high flick gave no chance to the rival goalkeeper to convert the first penalty-corner.

In the 12th minute, Ajmal doubled the lead with a direct try from top right side of the circle. The 2-0 lead remained intact till the breather.

The host club reduced the lead in the 38th minute through Christian Oyen, who converted a short-corner, given as a result of some rough tackling by Dar Academy’s Naqqash Abbas.

Dar Academy, however, regain control and struck their third goal through Ajmal (43rd minute) before Zulqarnain found the net in the 47th.
