Nehal Hashmi admitted to Pims

ISLAMABAD: Senator Nehal Hashmi was admitted to the cardiac centre of Pakistan Institute of Medical Science (Pims) where a procedure was carried out to insert three stents to remove blockage from arteries.

Mr Hashmi was admitted to the hospital ahead of the hearing of a case pertaining to him at the Supreme Court on August 21.

Senator Hashmi, in his speech in May, had threatened those probing Panamagate of dire consequences. The video was widely circulated on social media.

Following the speech, the party leadership removed him from the office of PML-N Sindh general secretary and also directed him to resign from his Senate seat.

However, he refused to comply with the orders to resign from Senate.

A doctor at Pims said Mr Hashmi had heart problems and therefore angioplasty was carried out.

“Though in such cases, patients are discharged within 24 hours, VIP patients tend to stay on in the hospital a little longer,” he added.
