Ten gold medals up for grabs

KARACHI: A total of 10 gold medals will be up for grab in the 24th National Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship which is being held at the Islamia Club from Aug 17 to 20.

Over 100 promising boys and girls from across the country will compete for honours in junior under-18 boys and girls and cadet under-15 boys and girls events.

Junior boys and girls will vie for honours in singles, doubles and team event apiece while cadet boys and girls will take part in singles and team events apiece.

Players representing four provinces, Islamabad, Army, National Highway Authority (NHA) and Chromatex Chemicals will feature in the competition.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Table Tennis Association (STTA) has named a 14-member boys and girls team for the event which is being organised by the Karachi Table Tennis Association (KTTA).

Squad:

Junior under-18 boys: Furqan Pateel, Hamza Godil, Abdul Ghaffar, Mehdi Raza.

Junior under-18 girls: Hareem Anwer, Nimra Faiq, Ayesha Zaffar, Farah Deeba.

Cadet under-15 boys: Kaif Riaz, Shayan Saleem, M. Sovaid.

Cadet under-15 girls: Maria Tazeem, Mehak Anwar, Marium Faiq.

Officials: Humaira Siddique, Khawar Mah­mood, Sadia Raheel.
