Police told to ensure no one harasses Aysha Ahad

LAHORE: A sessions court on Thursday directed the South Cantonment police to ensure that Aysha Ahad, who claimed to be wife of MNA Hamza Shahbaz, was not harassed by any quarter.

The court was hearing a petition of Ms Ahad wherein she accused Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah of hurling threats at her. She appeared before the court to record her view.

Her counsel Ali Zia Bajwa told the court that his client was forced to live like a detainee in her own house. He said police personnel in uniform and civvies were found deployed around the petitioner’s house.

However, a report submitted on behalf of the South Cantonment SHO denied the charges of harassment levelled by the petitioner.

Advocate Bajwa told the court that the police had withdrawn the security earlier provided to the petitioner on the direction of the LHC. He sought time to produce the relevant documents of the case pending before the high court.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Mustehsen Minhas adjourned hearing till Aug 15 and ordered the police to ensure that no harassment was extended to the petitioner.

Talking to the media, Ms Ahad said the government had obstructed her free movement by extending threats to her life. She refuted the allegations of being toeing agenda of rival political party of PML-N. She said she started receiving threats after serving a legal notice on the law minister for uttering derogatory remarks about her.
