Verdict in Sehwani case today
RAWALPINDI, Jan 4: An accountability court is expected to announce verdict in three identical corruption references against the former Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman, Shafi Sehwani, on January 5.
The judge of Accountability Court No 1, Rustam Ali Malik, was expected to announce the judgment here last month, but, the case was adjourned till January 5.
The accused is facing charges of amassing properties disproportionate to his source of income by abusing his official authority.
Besides, the main accused, the former PARC officer, Abdul Rehman, Roohi Farzana, wife of Mr Sehwani, and his relatives, Sahia Parveen, Aitzaz Ahmad and Ms Almas are also co-accused in the case.
According to the prosecution, Mr Sehwani, in collaboration with Abdul Rehman, had acquired 5,000 square yards industrial plot in I-9/1 Sector and converted into three plots.
The plots were acquired by violating rules and criteria.—APP
