Rallies held against ‘enforced disappearance’ of HR activist

SUKKUR: Members of civil society and some political parties took out rallies and held demonstrations in several Sindh towns on Sunday in protest against ‘enforced disappearance’ of Punhal Sario, convener of the Vice for Missing Persons of Sindh, and others rights activists by men in civvies.

In Sukkur, civil society activists took out a rally in protest against the ‘enforced disappearance’ of Mr Sario, writer Inam Abbasi, journalist Ghulam Rasool and other rights and political activists.

The protesters led by Hakeem Zangejo, Sattar Zangejo, advocate Shafiq Khoso and others said that more than 70 peaceful political workers, writers, philosophers, journalists and students has been picked up in Sindh.

They demanded that human rights organisations, higher courts, provincial and federal governments should get all the missing persons freed immediately.

In Jacobabad, civil society activists brought out a rally which marched on different roads before reaching the press club where the participants staged a sit-in.

Ali Mohammad Awami Party chairman Dil Murad Lashari and others who led the rally demanded immediate release of all missing persons including Mr Sario.

MIRPURKHAS: Scores of people including women held a demonstration under the banner of Mirpurkhas civil society outside the press club in protest against ‘enforced disappearance’ of Mr Sario.

Kanji Rano Bheel advocate, Wajid Leghari and Satram Sajan who led the protest demanded the federal government should ensure immediate release of Mr Sario.

Police tried to detain Kanji Rano Bheel and others but journalists intervened to persuade them not to do so and the protesters dispersed peacefully.

BADIN: Relatives of Ali Raza Jarwar staged a demonstration in Budho Qambrani town for the second consecutive day, demanding their loved one and others who had disappeared like him be freed immediately.

They told reporters that Mr Jarwar, a writer, was whisked away from his village Jani Jarwar near Matli town during a predawn raid by law enforcers on May 24.

They condemned disappearance of Mr Sario and other activists and said the trend was creating fear in the minds of peaceful people of Sindh.

UMERKOT: Social activists held a demonstration in protest against ‘enforced disappearance’ of Mr Sario and demanded his immediate release.

The protesters led by Gul Muneer Walhari, Ali Akbar Rahimoon and others said that Mr Sario did nothing but raise voice for the missing persons keeping within Pakistani law.

MITHI: Members of civil society and activists of different political parties staged a demonstration to register protest against the ‘enforced disappearance’ of Mr Sario and other rights activists.

Partab Shivani, Pirbhu Satiani, Imtiaz Dharani and others who led the protest told journalists that it was a matter of great concern that rights activists with political affiliation were being picked up LEAs. They demanded immediate release of Mr Sario to end unrest in society.
