LHCBA raps govt for failure to eradicate terrorism

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Tuesday condemned the Ferozepur Road suicide attack on police personnel and rapped the government for its failure to eradicate terrorism.

Addressing a general house meeting of the Bar, President Chaudhry Zulfiqar Ali said the rulers had been spending billions of rupees out of the public money for their protection but they had left the citizens at the mercy of terrorists.

He demanded that the government improve functioning of the law-enforcement agencies and financial support for the families of those who lose their lives and the injured.

Other speakers said had the Rangers been deployed in Punjab like it’s in Karachi and Quetta under the National Action Plan 2015, the law and order situation would have been much better. They also hit out at Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for keeping friendly relations with Indian premier Modi.

The lawyers lauded the Punjab police for fighting against terrorists despite having limited resources and expressed grief with the families of the slain.
