Railways offers to transport oil

LAHORE: The Pakistan Railways has made an offer to the petroleum ministry to transport oil through its dedicated rolling stock and locomotives in the wake of a strike by tanker owners.

Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique contacted Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday and offered the services to transport oil across the country.

“To deal with the strike of the oil transporters, the railways is ready to transport oil across the country as it has extra rolling stock and locomotives,” Mr Rafique said.

Railways spokesman Najam Wali told Dawn that the minister had also asked Senior General Manager Javed Noor to have a meeting with the officials concerned of the petroleum ministry and finalise the modalities in case both ministries agreed on the proposal.
