‘Enough oil stocks in Punjab’

LAHORE: Punjab may not be immediately affected by the ongoing strike of oil tankers as there are enough oil stocks in the province to meet demands for two more days.

A senior official of the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) told Dawn on Monday that sufficient stocks were available with the company depots at Machhikay (Sheikhupura), Chunian, Habibabad, Sher Shah, Mahmood Kot, Sihala and other places to meet needs for two more days.

To offset the impact of the tankers strike, he said, the PSO depots worked overtime and remained operative on Saturday and Sunday.

“At Machhikay we did a good sale today (Monday) and the sale operation will continue in the second shift too,” he said, requesting not be named as he’s not authorized to talk to the media. He said that the PSO would be in trouble only if other oil marketing companies “surrendered” shifting all their load to PSO within next two days.
