New airport’s name

THIS is apropos the letter ‘Edhi remembered’ (July 16) by Israr Ahmad Chattha. I endorse the suggestion by the writer to name new Islamabad airport after Abdul Sattar Edhi, a man whose parallel is difficult to find.

He sacrificed his entire life in the service of mankind. He had only one religion, that is to save humanity, and just one mission in life, to serve humanity with all sincerity and dedication even at the cost of his personal life and family. Even naming one airport after Mr Edhi will not be enough to honour such a great man.

Another towering personality who deserves our gratitude and should be honoured by the nation is Shaheed-i-Millat, Liaquat Ali Khan, who convinced Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah to return to India from England and lead the Muslims of the subcontinent. While struggling for Pakistan, he sacrificed everything and finally his life for the country.

I hope the government will seriously consider naming the new Islamabad airport either after Mr Edhi or Liaquat Ali Khan.

THE international airport at Talagang Tornolis is near completion. The government has formed a committee to suggest the name of the airport. I suggest the airport be named after the founder of Pakistan, which will be a most appropriate name for this biggest airport of Pakistan.

The airport is unique in its nature as it will be linked with the Metro bus service and provide facilities for 50,000 passengers and prove to be a state-of-the-art project.
