Fresh rain spell from today

LAHORE: A fresh spell of isolated heavy to very heavy rains in Sindh, upper Punjab and Kashmir is likely to start from today (Saturday), says the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

It said the spell would cause strong monsoon currents that would start to penetrate in eastern parts of country from Saturday Rain/thunderstorm with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are expected at a number of places in Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Hazara, Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad divisions and Kashmir in the next three days.

Rain/thunderstorm with moderate to heavy falls are expected at scattered places in KP, Fata, DG Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, Karachi, Sibbi, Zhob, Naseerabad divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan during the period.

The department advised all authorities concerned to remain alert during the next three days.

The forecast came when Islamabad (Saidpur 107mm, Golra 53) received heavy rain during the day. Kamra recorded 56mm, Chakwal 35, Rawalpindi and Murree 14, Jhang 6, Okara 3, Faisalabad 1.

Islamkot in Sindh recorded 64mm, Nagarparkar 50, Dhahli 30, Mithi 22, Chhor 21, Chachro 12, Diplo 10, Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas 8, Kakul 26, Balakot 19, Risalpur 13, Malamjabba 9, Saidu Sharif, Lower Dir 2, Cherat 01, Garhi Dupatta 14, Muzaffarabad 13 and Kotli 9.
