Balochistan pays compensation money to heirs of nine workers from Sindh

BADIN: The Balochistan government has provided compensation money (Rs9 million) to the heirs of nine workers belonging to Sindh who were killed in different militants’ attacks in Balochistan.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Badin Dr Nawaz Bhoot on Tuesday handed over two cheques for Rs1 million each to the heirs of two workers who were killed in an attack in Balochistan in May this year.

Muhammad Ayub and Sawan worked on a project in Balochistan when they were killed in the attack responsibility of which was claimed by the banned Baloch Liberation Front.

The Balochistan government announced compensation for the families of the slain workers after the attack.

Seven of these men were among 20 labourers killed in an attack in Turbat on April 11, 2015

Ayub’s wife Subhan Khatoon and Sawan’s son Bhoro received the compensation cheques.

Meanwhile, the deputy commissioners of Tharparkar and Badin districts on Monday received Rs7 million from the deputy commissioner of Turbat as compensation for the families of seven men from Sindh who were among 20 labourers killed in an attack in Turbat district of Balochistan on April 11, 2015.

The amount has been provided by the Balochistan government on the directives of Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri.

All the seven slain labourers — five from Tharparkar district and two from Badin district — belonged to Magwana community.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Badin Ali Nawaz Bhoot handed over compensation cheques to the heirs of two slain workers in Suleman Magwano village near Rajo Khannani town on Tuesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Tharparkar Dr Abdul Hafeez Sial told Dawn that he had not received compensation cheques for the relatives of five slain workers who hailed from Chowanhar village near Islamkot town.
