Another PPP ‘loyalist’ joins PTI

MUZAFFARGARH: Pakistan Peoples Party had to face another setback on Wednesday as another of its loyalists Sardar Moazzam Jatoi along with others joined Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf in Bani Gala, Islamabad.

Former state minister Sardar Moazzam Jatoi, who had contested election on PPP platform every time, would now contest on PTI ticket.

Last week, ex-MNA Jatoi had held discussions with PTI leaders Jahangir Khan Tareen and others. On Wednesday, Mr Jatoi along with union council chairmen of Alipur and Jatoi tehsils had a meeting with Imran Khan and they joined PTI.

In 2013, Moazzam Jatoi was defeated by Syed Basit Sultan Bukhari.

On Wednesday, PPP divisional president Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmad Khan at a press conference said the Jatoi group would have no future in PTI.

PPP district general secretary Mazhar Pahore claimed that PPP would win all five National Assembly seats.

Talking to Dawn, Mr Jatoi claimed that the PTI would form the government next year. He said Imran Khan would soon visit Muzaffargarh.

On the other hand, Moazzam’s brother-in-law Sardar Abdul Qayyum Jatoi said he won’t desert PPP.

Earlier, PPP leaders Ghazanfar Gul from Gujrat, Firdous Ashiq Awan from Sialkot, Nazar Gondol from Mandi Bahauddin and Babar Awan have joined PTI.
