Pindi police to appear in new uniforms from July 1

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi police will start wearing new olive green uniform from July 1, as 18,000 new kits have been delivered to them.

Each of the police personnel will be given two pair of new kits, consisting of two trousers, two shirts, two round necks, one belt and badges. But they have to wear old shoes which were given to them as per routine.

According to the Punjab AIG (logistics), the new olive colour uniform was designed after consulting a school of fashion design and stitched by reputed firms.

All of the policemen from IG to constables will be wearing the new uniform in the Punjab province.

Unlike the old traditional khaki trouser and black shirt, the new uniforms include a shirt with two pockets, a trouser with four pockets and a cap. Women officials will also be given uniforms sewn from the same cloth. In the first stage, the new uniforms were delivered to the Lahore police.

City Police Officer Rawalpindi Israr Ahmed Abbasi told Dawn that 18,000 new uniform kits had been received by the police and the police personnel will start wearing it from July 1.
