Gwadar killings

THIS refers to the “killing of labourers in Gwadar seen as an attempt to split Sindhi-Baloch unity” (May 28). The leaders from Sindh and Balochistan, showing grave concern over the killing of labourers belonging to Sindh, have formed a unity council to combat such activities.

Within two years some 44 workers have been killed, all belonging to Sindh’s interior, and, sadly, in the latest incident the nine murdered labourers and the one seriously injured lying in Karachi hospital were of the same clan and village.

The continuous flow of workers from Sindh to the extremely harsh climate areas in Balochistan, even at the cost their lives, proves that their poverty level has increased manifold, despite the government claim to the contrary.

I wonder at the insensitivity of Baloch intellectuals and Sindh’s abdication of its responsibility towardsits citizens.

I hope and pray workers from Sindh are not get killed in future.
