Visitors to Khar govt offices complain of absenteeism

KHAR: The local residents on Thursday complained that the employees of political administration and other government offices didn’t do duty diligently during Ramazan and remained absent from duty.

They also said low attendance had been reported in those offices since the start of the month of fasting.

The people insisted that most employees of the political administration and other government offices located in the Civil Colony, Khar, either absented themselves from duty or came to their workplaces late and left early to the misery of visitors.

Ikram Khan of Barang tehsil said he and three friends had been visiting the offices of the political tehsildar for one week for the attestation of the no objection certificate for passports but the relevant offices didn’t come to work.

Visitors have found things in other offices, too, no different.

“I have been coming to the offices of different departments and local administration for many days but have failed to get the needful done due to absenteeism,” Arshad Khan of Salarzai area said.

He complained about the absence of a ‘check and balance’ mechanism for the government employees and said that was to blame for absenteeism.

The resident urged the senior administration officials to ensure the presence of staff members in their offices during working hours and said the absentee officials should be dealt with strictly.

When contacted, an administration official confirmed absenteeism in offices and added that most employees had been coming to duty after 11am since the start of Ramazan.

He claimed that the administration had decided to crack down on absentees and those not doing duty diligently.

Meanwhile, the Fata health services directorate has transferred medical superintendent of the Agency Headquarters Hospital, Khar, Dr Khan Saeed, and appointed Dr Abdul Qadus as his successor.

An official claimed the transfer of Dr Khan Saeed was made after the start of an inquiry against him over the alleged corruption and administrative anomalies.

He said some other corruption suspects from the hospital were also facing transfer.
