Child hospitalised after electric shock

RAWALPINDI: A 10-year-old boy was hospitalised after he received an electric shock while trying to catch a kite that was tangled in high tension electric wires crossing close to his home in Gulzar-i-Quaid on Thursday.

Zakir Ali, a student in the second grade, received an electric shock while trying to catch a kite with an iron rod, his brother in law Amir Ali told Dawn.

The rod hit the high tension wires passing by his house, and the resulting electric shock caused him to lose consciousness.

Mr Ali told Dawn Zakir Ali and his brother had been staying with him since Wednesday.

He said the child was rushed to the hospital, where doctors said his legs and back were burnt and his right arm would have to be amputated because his right hand was severely injured.
