ISLAMABAD: Six students from Rawalpindi and Islamabad are among the top 10 position holders in this year’s Secondary School Certificate examinations, also known as matriculation, according to results declared by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Wednesday.

Seven girls were also among the position holders. The overall results were 83.36pc, as 70,969 students passed the examination out of 85,140 candidates.

According to the results, in the science group Qandeel Khurshid from the Islamabad Model College for Girls I-10/4 and Shehzeen Tariq from the Connoisseur Grammar School System, Sargodha Cantt, shared first position – securing 1,034 marks out of 1,050.

Momina Bashir from the Army Public School for Girls, Lahore Cantt, and Wajeeha Irfan of the Army Public School, Rawalpindi Cantt, shared second position with 1,032 marks. Third position was shared by Zahra Nawaz from The Educators (Mall Campus), Rawalpindi, Ibsa Iftikhar of Hamza Army School, Hamza Camp, Rawalpindi, and Mohammad Maheer Mubashir of Iqra Grammar School, Farooq Colony, Sargodha, all of whom scored 1,031 marks.

In the Humanities group, Mohammad Awais Afzal and Askari College, Rawalpindi, got first position with 980 marks, followed by Mohammad Sudais of the Institute of Islamic Sciences, Satra Meel, with 958 marks and Zahra Jabeen of Pakistan International School, Jeddah, with 951 marks.

The results were announced at a ceremony by State Minister for Education Balighur Rehman, which was attended by FBISE Chairman Dr Ikram Ali Malik.

Statistics show that 21,318 candidates received an A-I grade, 13,688 received As, 14,673 received Bs and 13,728 received Cs.
