Farhan stars as Advance Telecom win
KARACHI: Advance Telecom rode on another breezy half-century from Sahibzada Farhan to whip Karachi Port Trust (KPT) by 72 runs in their 32nd Karachi Gymkhana Omar Associates Ramazan Cricket Festival fixture here on Saturday.
Put in to bat in the last preliminary-round fixture at the Karachi Gymkhana Ground, Advance Telecom posted 168-9 in their 20 overs. Man-of-the-match Farhan led the onslaught by making 66 from 42 deliveries with the aid of six fours and three sixes, while Mohammad Waqas hoisted two sixes in scoring an 18-ball 29.
Off-spinning all-rounder Usman Khan snared four wickets for 45 runs.
KPT’s reply was restricted to 96-6 despite Ahmed Iqbal hitting up 29 off 38 balls.
Seamer Ammad Butt claimed three wickets for just five runs in three overs.
Advance Telecom will again be in action on Sunday when they face Eaton CC in the first of the quarter-finals. The remaining knockout matches will see Omar CC meet New Al-Habib CC on Monday, Dollar East take on Friends CC on Tuesday and hosts Karachi Gymkhana entertain Tapal CC on Wednesday.
