PTI to file another petition against PML-N members

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) is all set to file another petition in the Supreme Court against the ruling party members for allegedly making the judiciary and the joint investigation team (JIT) probing the Panama Papers case controversial. Sources in the party told Dawn that PTI chairman Imran Khan had given a green signal to the party’s legal team to file the petition before the court as early as possible.

When contacted, PTI’s spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said that the party legal team had already collected video footages and statements of various PML-N leaders, including federal and provincial ministers, which would be submitted before the court as evidence.

Mr Chaudhry, who himself had been given the task to prepare the case, said that he would file the petition on Saturday so that the Supreme Court could take it up on Monday.

He alleged that under a “planned move”, the ruling party had launched a campaign through main and social media to malign the judiciary and the JIT in an effort to make it controversial.

He particularly referred to the recent reported statement of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah that the PML-N would not accept any controversial decision of the JIT. Similarly, he said, PML-N MNA Tallal Chaudhry had questioned the inclusion of the representatives of the military in the JIT.

Mr Chaudhry alleged that the campaign was being supervised by the Prime Minister House and the entire media team of the PML-N was involved in it.
