Five ‘activists’ among nine held in Rangers’ raids

KARACHI: Pakistan Rangers, Sindh on Saturday claimed to have arrested nine suspects, including five workers of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London and MQM-Pakistan.

The paramilitary force apprehended five suspects from Mobina Town, Surjani Town and Khawaja Ajmer Nagri. Three of them were identified as Junaid Ahmed Khan, Sher Muhammad and Jehanzeb.

They were associated with the MQM-L, a Rangers spokesperson said, adding that remaining two — Muhammad Akram alias Palari and Muhammad Akhter Ali alias Pahari — were affiliated with the MQM-P.

The spokesman claimed that the held suspects were allegedly involved in targeted killings, extortions, forced fitra collection, arson acts during strikes and selling of drugs.

The paramilitary force also arrested three suspects — Muhammad Imtiaz, Ismail and Ali Nawaz — in the Mobina Town area for their alleged involvement in mobile phone and motorcycle snatching and other crimes.

The Rangers also arrested suspect Ayaz Khan in the Quaidabad area for allegedly selling liquor and hashish.
