Torture of judge: LHC accepts lawyer’s apology

LAHORE: A Lahore High Court full bench on Friday accepted unconditional apology of a lawyer while suspended practicing licences of two others for not tendering the apology and referred their matter to the Punjab Bar Council (PBC) for action on charges of roughing up a judicial officer.

As the bench headed by Justice Atir Mahmood resumed hearing, Barrister Ehtisham Ameeruddin submitted his unconditional apology in writing, which the bench accepted.

The bench suspended licences of Advocates Mehr Ahsan and Inam Afridi for three months as they failed to submit their written apology.

The bench referred the matter to the PBC with a direction to proceed against them under the law. The bench had directed the lawyers to submit their apology in writing.

The lawyers were accused of manhandling Additional District and Sessions Judge Irfan Anjum.
