Directorate of district judiciary

LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah inaugurated on Friday the directorate of district judiciary that would replace the traditional office of member of the inspection team.

The chief justice said the district judiciary was the real judiciary where a litigant approached first to seek justice. However, he regretted that around Rs1.2 million cases were pending in the district judiciary of Punjab.

The chief justice said the dream of swift and quality justice could not be fulfilled without making the district judiciary more powerful and functional. He said it had become impossible for the office of MIT to deal a huge quantity of cases on traditional means and adopting modern measures was inevitable.

He said the new established directorate of district judiciary would not only hear complaints against judicial officers but also discharge other responsibilities like monitoring, capacity building, planning/development, and performance evaluation.

Justice Muhammad Yawar Ali, Registrar Khurshid Anwar Rizvi, Director General of District Judiciary Akmal Khan were also present.
