Govt urged to announce Ramazan package for poor

TIMERGARA: Opposition leader in the Lower Dir district council, Malik Mohammad Zeb, on Friday demanded of the provincial government to announce a special Ramazan package for poor people of the province.

Addressing a function at Toormang Darra here after distributing ration among deserving people, he said that the administration should set up a Ramazan bazaar in the district where the people could get edible items on cheap rates.

The ration included rice, flour, ghee and cold drinks, which were arranged by Mr Zeb himself.

He said that the holy month of Ramazan taught them to do charitable things and help the poor.

He demanded of the local administration to conduct frequent visits to local markets so that shopkeepers could be stopped from overcharging and hoarding.

Also in the day, the Orphan Welfare Trust distributed school bags, uniform, shoes, etc among 36 orphan children at the government higher secondary school Luqman Banda.

A function in this regard was held at the school which was also addressed by the trust president, Khanzada.

Meanwhile, Khall Charity Organisation distributed awards among position-holder students of the government and private schools and religious seminaries at a function arranged in a local hotel.

KCO chairman Akhunzada Kalimullah said on the occasion that talented youth were the asset of the nation and they should be properly encouraged.

TRANSFORMERS: Power transformers were installed at Tauhidabad Danwa and Dubando villages here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, PPP Senator Ahmad Hassan Khan said that his party had rendered matchless sacrifices for the restoration of democracy.

He said that the PPP’s mandate was stolen in the last general elections and it would come again into power if free and fair elections were held in the country.
