Woman slaughters two children

ISLAMABAD: A woman believed to be mentally ill slaughtered her two small children here on Wednesday, police said.

The incident took place in a house in Barma Town where the four-member family of Zubair Khan, a native of Karak, has been residing for the past 18 months.

According to police, the incident came to light when a female neighbour of the family came to their house and found blood all over the floor. She spotted the woman — Farah Nazi, 30 — sitting on a charpoy while wearing blood-soaked clothes.

The neighbour rushed outside the house and started screaming. Shortly other neighbours came out of their houses and gathered in front of Mr Khan’s house. Some of them entered the house and found two children slaughtered and lying on the floor.

Police were informed and they took the bodies to hospital. The slain children were identified as Zeeshan, 7, and Aryan, 4.

Police took Ms Nazi into custody and shifted her to hospital. They also seized a kitchen knife believed to have been used in the crime.

Mr Khan, who is employed in a private firm, could not be reached, police said.
