Two ‘robbers’ killed, SHO hurt in ‘shootout’

JHANG: Two suspected robbers were killed while a station house officer suffered injuries in an ‘encounter’ here on Wednesday on Jhang-Sargodha Road near Adda Mauza Habib. According to FIR No. 286/17 lodged with Saddar police [on the report of SI Amanullah Qamar], Saddar SHO Abdul Saboor and his team were on a patrol when they signalled two motorcyclists to stop near Adda Mauza Habib. The suspects accelerated the bike while police chased them. One of the suspects fired on the team as a result SHO Abdul Saboor suffered a bullet injury to his leg.

During a shootout, suspects identified as Nadeem Abbas and Muhammad Asif, residents of Faisalabad district, were killed on the spot. SI Amanullah Qamar said both were wanted by Jhang, Toba Tek Singh and Faisalabad police in different cases of theft, robbery, bike snatching and other crimes. He said police recovered two pistols and a snatched motorcycle from their custody.
