Labourers’ protest

GUJRANWALA: Thousands of labourers under the Labour Action Committee organised a sit-in here on Wednesday to seek 50 per cent raise in salary and other benefits.

Labor unions from different parts of the city gathered in front of the deputy commissioner’s office and and raised slogans for the implementation of the charter of demanded. Though some protesters fainted in hot and humid conditions, the organisers continued their show for several hours and blocked the Sialkot Road.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Aamir Jan met with representatives of protesters and promised to address their problems.
