Wah industries, private sector explore joint ventures

ISLAMABAD: The Wah Industries Limited (WIL), a subsidiary of the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF), has called upon the private sector to explore possibilities of joint ventures for manufacturing of commercial products.

A WIL delegation, led by General Manager Wasif Afzaal Taseer, held a meeting on Tuesday with the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and discussed various options for joint venture.

Mr Taseer asked the private sector to join hands with his organisation for mutual development and growth of products being manufactured by the WIL, including 12-bore Shaheen cartridges, 30-bore ammunition, non-ferrous and ferrous products, acids and chemicals, uniforms and other clothing items, all types of plastic items, lab testing and PHO solutions, etc.

The business community of Islamabad was briefed about the subsidiaries of Wah Industries, including Wah Nobel (Pvt ) Ltd., Attock Chemicals (Pvt) Ltd, Hi-Tech Plastic (Pvt) Ltd and Wah Brass Mill (Pvt) Ltd.

“Now we are opening up to the private sector for joint ventures for optimum utilisation of production facilities,” Mr Taseer said.

The WIL was set up in November 1958 as a commercial enterprise of the Pakistan Ordnance Factories to use maximum spare production capacity of POF’s human resource, machinery and materials for production of commercial products.

ICCI president Khalid Iqbal Malik said that WIL should provide easy access to the private sector.
