BAHAWALNAGAR: A labourer belonging to Chak Mominabad seeks the government help for treatment of his two minor sons who are suffering from thalassaemia.

Muhammad Fiaz, 35, got married with his cousin about 10 years ago and had four children from the marriage. Two of his children – five-year-old Hassan and two-and-a-half-years-old Hussain –are suffering from thalassaemia. Fiaz says all his life savings and even the jewellery of his wife have been spent on his sons’ treatment. He has now run out of money and is unable to carry on his sons’ treatment. He and his wife are losing hope.

“We often think of committing suicide to get rid of the worst financial circumstances we ever suffered from,” he told Dawn.

Fiaz seeks the government help for his children and pleads to the chief minister to arrange for their treatment.

TORTURE: Three incidents of torture of schoolchildren were reported in district in a single day on Saturday.

The first incident occurred at the Government Primary School Chak-7, Fordwah. Teacher Amin hit Class-II student, Abu Bakar, in the head with a glass which left the minor unconscious. He was shifted to Chishtian Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital. A case was registered against the teacher with the Bakhshan Khan Police Station.

In another incident at Government Middle School Dhuddi Khazan Singh, teacher Abdus Sattar sent Class-VI student, Ali, to bring a spade from his house. Upon Ali’s return, the teacher thrashed him for getting late and forced him to collect garbage from the school ground for an hour under the scorching sun. Ali’s father submitted an application before the deputy commissioner and the district education officer against the teacher.

In the third incident, teacher Muhammad Afzal of the City Public School, Donga Bonga, sent Class-II student Usman out for his personal work. When the child refused, the teacher lost his temper and started canning Usman mercilessly. Usman’s parents registered a complaint with the Donga Bonga police.
