Six ‘robbers’ arrested with booty

LAHORE: Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested six suspected robbers involved in street crime and recovered weapons and looted amount from them.

According to a news release, a team constituted by Sadar Division investigation SP Maher Mumtaz and led by Sub-Inspector Shajeel Khan busted four-member ‘Thatha gang’ comprising Ali Raza alias Thatha, Ilyas, Shehzad and Adeel alias Labha.

The team also recovered from the suspects the looted amount in millions, seven mobile phones, jewellery and two pistols, the release said.

It said the suspects had criminal record and were involved in looting the citizens in different streets and on roads of the city.

In another raid, Gujjarpura investigation wing officials arrested two members of “Jaffir gang” allegedly involved in house robberies.

The suspects were identified as Jaffir alias Zafri and Khalid. The third member of the gang, Faisal alias Mana, escaped from the “taking benefit of darkness”, the police said.

Police claimed to have recovered a pistol and five mobile phones from the suspects and traced eight cases registered against them in Gujjarpura police station.

The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation.
