Seven injured in shoot-out over bike race

KASUR: An exchange of fire between two groups of motorcycle racers landed seven people, including five passersby, in hospital on Sunday with bullet injuries at old lorry adda.

Police registered a case against 30 suspects under various sections, including Section 7 of the ATA, and arrested four of them.

Hassan and Khalil groups had an argument a few days ago over a motorcycle race near Baldia Chowk.

Late on Saturday, one group located the other at old lorry adda and both opened fire on each other. Old lorry adda is in the heart of the city and always bustling with people. Panic spread when both groups exchange fire.

Seven people, including Malik Nazim, Malik Farooq, Mahmood Jutt, Rao Samay, Ahmed, Waqas and Toqeer, suffered injuries and were rushed to DHQ Hospital.

ARREST: Police claimed to have arrested one of the robbers who shot dead a journalist and injured two others on Deepalpur Road on May 17.

A video made by the slain journalist, Razzaq, moments before his death went viral on social media. The journalists were intercepted by the robbers Near Khudian.

They opened indiscriminate firing on the journalists. As a result, Razzaq died on the spot while two others suffered injuries. On Sunday, police claimed to have arrested one of the robbers, Riffat, wanted in dozens of cases by the Lahore and Kasur police.

Kasur DPO Ali Nasir Rizvi had constituted seven teams for the arrest of the killers.
