SMD clinch NBP T20 event

KARACHI: SMD won the second NBP Inter-department T20 cricket tournament here on Saturday at the NBP Sports Complex when they defeated IBG convincingly by eight wickets.

IBG, batting first scored 126 in the allotted twenty overs but SMD reached the target for the loss of just two wickets, thanks to a brilliant 75 not out by Man of the Match Adnan Arif, the son of late Test wicket-keeper batsman Taslim Arif who blasted four sixes and six fours in his knock.

Later, Fasih-ur-Rahman was declared best bowler of the tournament while Hur Abbas was named as the best batsman of the event.

Prsident NBP Saeed Ahmed was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed the prizes. He praised the smooth and professional organisation of the T20 event and announced incentives for the bank’s sports department as well as enhancement of the facilities at the complex.

Sports head of NBP Ovais Asad Khan also spoke on the occasion and praised the high standard of matches in the tournament. Group chief NBP Zahid Chadhry, Tariq Jamali, Ghulam Mohammad and others were also present on the occasion.
