Shaharyar, Sethi meet Flanagan

LAHORE: Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Shaharyar Khan and PCB executive committee chief Najam Sethi met the head of International Cricket Council’s Anti-corruption and Security Unit Sir Ronnie Flanagan here on Thursday.

Flanagan came to Lahore to appear as a witness before the PCB anti-corruption tribunal hearing the spot-fixing case relating to the second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) staged in the UAE in February-March this year.

A PCB press release issued on Thursday stated: “Shaharyar Khan and Najam Sethi thanked Mr Flanagan [during the meeting] for assisting the PCB Anti-Corruption and Vigilance Department in the ongoing spot-fixing hearing and reiterated PCB’s zero-tolerance stance towards corruption.

“The chairman and chairman executive committee added that the PCB will continue its fight against corrupt elements to protect the game, there is a strong case against the accused players and the PCB remains determined to bring the case to its logical end besides punishing errant players who have sullied the game with their selfish acts and greed,” the release added.
