MULTAN: Multan Electric and Power Company (Mepco) consumers will get loadshedding schedule and electricity bills text messages on mobile phones.
Mepco Additional Director General (information system) Mian Nadim Ahmed said this at a meeting, presided over by Assistant Commissioner Rana Ikhlaq Ahmed, on Wednesday. He said Mepco had started collecting data on consumers.
Mepco Multan Circle Superintendent Engineer Muhammad Akram Bhatti said loadshedding schedule was being published on regular basis on the website of the company. He said that consumers’ complaint centres were functional round the clock to redress the complaints at sub-division, division and circle levels.
“The line staff is performing duties on emergency basis in case of technical faults and natural disasters,” he said. He said that complaint centres were being monitored and consumers could lodge their complaints on toll free numbers of the company.
AC Rana Ikhlaq directed Mepco authorities to restore electricity supplies without any delay in case of any technical fault to avert unrest among the consumers.
He said the schedule of loadshedding should be announced through television channels, cable networks, radios and newspapers.
