A Hindu woman committed suicide at a temple under Karachi's Native Jetty Bridge after developing differences with her fiance, police told Dawn.

The 20-year-old reportedly consumed a poisonous substance and was rushed to Civil Hospital Karachi where she died.

A police official said that the deceased was a resident of New Karachi.

He added that she was communicating with her fiance via her mobile phone and was having an argument during which she reportedly warned him that she would jump into sea from the temple.

When her fiance reached the temple, she had consumed a poisonous substance, which proved fatal.

Further investigation is underway.
