Two brothers shot dead

MANSEHRA: Two brothers were killed allegedly in the name of honour in Mahandri Manoor area of Kaghan valley here on Friday.

The two brothers were on way home from a nearby village when a group of five persons intercepted them and sprayed them with bullets and fled the scene. They died on the spot.

The bodies were taken to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital on Saturday morning for medical examination, where relatives and family members of the slain raised slogans, condemning the incident. They demanded immediate arrested of the killers.

According to the family, the younger brother of the deceased had allegedly married a local girl without the consent of her brothers and parents some two months ago, which prompted them to take the lives of two brothers.

Mansehra District Nazim Sardar Said Ghulam, who was present at the hospital, told reporters that both the victims were innocent. “Incidents of honour killing are on the rise and the police should immediately arrest the killers and award them exemplary punishment,” he demanded.

Tariq Khan, SHO Kaghan police station, told reporters that the police had arrested four brothers and a relative in the double murder case in a raid in Rehtray Manor village.
