PCB rubbishes Khalid Latif's 'frivolous, baseless' letter

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday rejected Khalid Latif's letter, in which he refused to appear before the authority's Anti-Corruption Unit, calling it 'frivolous, baseless, and false'.

Earlier this week, Khalid Latif, who has been provisionally suspended from playing cricket for his alleged involvement in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing scandal, had written to the PCB saying he refused to appear before the anti-corruption panel as he was concerned about the fairness of the investigation.

"The PCB Vigilance and Security Department has responded to cricketer Khalid Latif’s letter received on April 24. The Vigilance and Security Department has vehemently rejected the frivolous, baseless and false allegations leveled in the letter," said a PCB statement.

The statement also clarified that Latif was "extended full cooperation as permitted under the Anti-Corruption Code", but his letter seems to be "aimed at frustrating and obstructing the ongoing investigations."

The PCB has further requested Latif to appear before the Vigilance and Security Department for an interview on May 2, a meeting he has refused to attend in recent weeks.
