Wekh Lahore photography competition opens

LAHORE: An exhibition-cum-competition of photographs was opened by the Walled City of Lahore Authority titled Wekh Lahore at Alhamra Art Centre on The Mall on Friday.

The exhibition was inaugurated by the Lahore commissioner.

At least 400 photographs were on display at the exhibition depicting walled city life, archeology and the awesome architecture. The works were distributed to three segments -- monuments, street life and architecture.

The winners of the competition in the monument category were Salman Mehmood (first), Muhammad Ashar (second) and Fawad Malik (third). In the street life category, the first position was bagged by Zoya Khan, second by Hassan Ahmed and third by Sher Zaman.

No submissions were made in the architecture category. The jury had three members Atif Saeed, Masood Ahmed Khan and Arshad Ghauri. The submissions for the event were sent to WCLA for the selection of images. The selection process was based on the frame, story, light and clarity of the image.

WCLA Deputy Director Tania Qureshi said at least 700 images of the walled city in different categories were received out of which 400 images were put on display.

Ms Qureshi said when it came to photographs the Wekh Lahore was the most visited and big show in the city.

The exhibition will continue till May 2.
