NBP’s delay

I LIVE in the US and was in Karachi for two months for the sole purpose of getting a succession certificate for my mother’s account at the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP).

The case has been with the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) for over a month and we have still not received the cheque.

I have been trying to get access to my mother’s account for the last four months. My mother, who lived abroad, passed away several years ago. She had an account at the NBP for which I obtained a succession certificate in November 2016.

This certificate along with all necessary documents was hand-delivered to the head office in Karachi. It has been over four months now and in spite of a court order I have still not received the monies.

I have contacted the bank several times but to no avail. The case has been with the SBP for over a month now and I am still waiting for them to issue the cheque. These last few months have been extremely frustrating for us.
