Pakhtun and Baloch students seek action against IJT

LAHORE: Pakhtun and Baloch students of the Punjab University have urged the administration to take action against those involved in the March 21 violence on campus.

Baloch Council President Asfandyar Khan alleged at a news conference on Tuesday that the Islami Jamiat Tulba (IJT) was disturbing peace on campus and action should be taken against its activists involved in the March 21 violence wherein 10 students were injured for organising a cultural show. He said it was the duty of the university to ensure peace at the institution without being partisan.

IJT spokesman Taimur Khan told Dawn all those holding the press conference were wanted by police in on-campus violence. “The varsity has so far taken action against IJT activists only and spared Pakhtun and Baloch students involved in violence,” he alleged.

The administration recently suspended 15 students from both groups.
