Walk to create awareness about chickenpox

FAISALABAD: The District Health Authority, Faisalabad, organized an awareness walk regarding the chickenpox which has claimed 15 lives in the district during the last about two months.

The last victim was Mohammad Kamran, 20, of Silanwali, who breathed his last at the Allied Hospital on Monday. The deceased first remained under treatment at the Silanwali THQ, then at the Sargodha DHQ hospital and finally he was shifted to the Allied Hospital. Four patients are still under treatment at the Allied Hospital.

The participants of the walk carried banners inscribed with slogans to create awareness among the masses about the precautionary measures following the symptoms of chickenpox.

Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani and MNA Haji Akram Ansari led the walk which started from the authority office near the District Council and after taking round of the Kutchery Bazaar Chowk terminated at the starting point.

Talking to reporters, the DC said effective measures for the treatment of patients suffering from infectious disease of chickenpox had been taken at the state-run hospitals.

He said the government was vigilant to tackle the issue. An awareness campaign was also underway to keep the masses safe from chickenpox, he added.
