Paramhans dies at 93

LUCKNOW, July 31: A Hindu leader who dreamt of seeing a temple built on the site where the Babri mosque was razed by fanatics in 1992 died on Thursday after making a final journey to the scene of the destruction, his secretary said.

Ramchandra Paramhans, 93, who had been battling intestinal cancer, died after suffering kidney failure, personal assistant Chotey Lal Misra said.

Paramhans had led calls for a temple to be built on the site of the Babri mosque, in Ayodhya, after it was destroyed by zealots 11 years ago.—AFP
