Four soldiers lay down their lives in Mand

GWADAR: Four soldiers laid down their lives and three others suffered injuries in a bomb attack on a Frontier Corps (FC) convoy near the Mand area of Kech district on Sunday. A civilian was also killed in the incident.

Official sources said that the convoy was going to Mand, a town in the Makran division near the border with Iran, when the roadside bomb went off, destroying one vehicle and damaging another.

“Four personnel of the Fron­­tier Corps laid down their lives,” Makran Division Com­mis­­sioner Bashir Ahmed Bangulzai said, adding that the civilian killed in the attack was travelling with the FC men. They were identified as Rehmat Shah, Munir Ahmed, Salahuddin and Reh­matullah. The name of the civilian could not be ascertained.

Three soldiers, who suffered injuries in the attack, were taken to Turbat by a helicopter.

A senior security official said that a remote-controlled improvised explosive device had been used in the attack.

No one claimed responsibility for the attack till late in the night.

Official sources said that an operation had been launched in the area to trace the attackers.
