10 sessions court judges promoted

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice (CJ) on Saturday promoted 10 judges of the subordinate judiciary in next grade.

CJ Mohammad Anwar Khan Kasi promoted two additional district and sessions’ judge (ADSJ) Wajid Ali and Shahrukh Arjumand of Grade 20 to district and sessions judge (DSJ) in Grade 21.

Senior civil judges of Grade 19 Abdul Ghafoor and Mohammad Sohail promoted to ADSJ in Grade 20.

Six civil judge of Grade 18 promoted to senior civil judge in Grade 19. They included Amir Aziz Khan, Rasool Baksh Mirjat, Nasarminallah, Mohammad Shabbir, Qudratullah and Hamayun Dilwar.

IHC CJ Kasi promoted these judicial officers on the recommendations of the departmental promotion committee of the IHC and under the Islamabad Judicial Service Rules, 2011.

However, the rules were challenged before the IHC Justice Aamir Farooq by a judicial officer and lawyers’ representatives some three years ago and had been pending for adjudication since then.

Registrar IHC Raja Jawad Abbas Hassan notified these promotions and sent copies of notification to secretary law and justice, secretary interior, registrars of four provincial high courts, Accountant General of Pakistan Revenue and to the promoted judges.
