Hand grenade shell recovered

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi police have recovered a hand grenade shell near a school on Indus Road in Lal Kurti, police said.

Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and Civil Lines police officials rushed where the shell was found and took it into custody. Police said children playing near the Federal Government Boys Technical School spotted the hand grenade and informed law enforcement.

A police team led by Civil Lines Station House Officer Mian Imran cordoned off the area, where the BDS team examined the hand grenade.

After it was declared a hand grenade shell, the police took the shell into custody and noted the recovery of the shell in the daily crime register. An investigation to ascertain who left the shell there has also begun.

Separately, two armed individuals robbed a shop and stole cash and gold jewellery from the shopkeeper and customers in Westridge, police said. The robbers managed to escape after robbing the shop, and police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the incident.
