Official held for Rs17m ‘business’ transaction

HYDERABAD: A police contingent comprising four vans carrying around 30 personnel conducted a raid on the residence of an agriculture department official located off Ziauddin Ahmed Road in the Cantonment area of the city late on Thursday evening in connection with a Rs17 million transaction.

Khurshid Shah told the media that his son, Shahzad Shah, was taken away in the raid and since then his whereabouts were not known. He claimed that his cousin, SSP Amir Abbas Shah of the special branch, was part of the “business” transaction.

Rejecting the allegation, the SSP said Khurshid Shah was his cousin but he (the SSP) had nothing to do with the transaction.

“In fact, Shahzad Shah has committed fraud with many people and now the affected people are after him as he is not ready to settle the issue,” the police officer claimed.
