PSL management warns franchises against player transfers

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) management on Friday warned the PSL franchises against the player transfer and exchanges being reported on media, saying “no retentions, transfers or trades may be made or announced outside the officially announced respective windows”.

The PSL authorities also made it clear to the franchise owners that, “No one party out of a tripartite agreement can make the announcement (regarding any such development) except for the Pakistan Cricket Board.”

The instructions were issued to all franchise owners through an email which was dubbed ‘secret’, however, a copy of which is available with DawnNews.

“Any player releases from teams will also be in the respective windows, the players remain contractually active squad members of their previous teams until the time of either the official release or Draft, whichever agreement is reached earlier,” read the email.

It is pertinent to mention that this email was reportedly sent following the announcement by Karachi Kings to appoint Shahid Afridi as its president on Friday.

“Any non-player understanding or contract does not circumvent PSL rules in as far as player or staff placement is involved,” the PSL management clarified in its email.

It further informed and requested everyone to “refrain from any ongoing or further announcements on anything until the windows officially open”, except for stating that all teams will continue to abide by the rules set forth by the PSL.
