Swat dominate KP U-23 Games

MINGORA: District Swat won 11 out of 15 events in men’s categories during the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U-23 Games of the Swat region.

According to the official results released by the Swat Sports Department the other day, Swat emerged victorious in 11 events including athletics; with the badminton team of the district defeating district Buner in the final to retain the title for the second time.

Similarly, Swat defeated Buner in the final of table tennis, karate, gymnastics, volleyball, squash and athletics.

On the other hand, Swat defeated district Shangla in the final of tennis and wrestling, clinching top positions while Swat also defeated Chitral in the final of football apart from securing 123 points to emerge victorious in judo leaving Dir Upper on the second position.

District Buner clinched top positions in Kabaddi and hockey defeating Swat; with Chitral grabbing first position in the tug-of-war by defeating Dir Upper. Similarly, Dir Upper clinched first position in basketball defeating Swat in the final.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Under-23 Games were over in two days in Swat with most events ending on the first day. Players and officials were given Rs1000 each as travelling allowance for two days while cash prizes of Rs 20,000 and Rs15,000 were awarded to winning and losing teams, respectively. Players were also given uniform and sports shoes.
